A TA will select a book they think is valuable to read with other students, focusing on books that enhance leadership development and insight into society’s future. The sessions will be held in a workshop format using the “Active Book Dialogue\u00ae” method, allowing participants to grasp the book\u2019s key points quickly and engage in discussions with one another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each session is independent, so you are welcome to join even if you can only attend one session. No preparation or book purchase is necessary. Please join the session conducted in the language of your choice. For students who want to improve their language skills, participating in sessions in the target language can be an opportunity for language practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The book selection and facilitation will be handled by ToTAL TAs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This workshop can be counted as part of the graduate courses ‘Recognition of Social Issues Workshop B\/D’ and ‘Master’s\/Doctoral Essential Group Work for Leadership.’ If you want to enroll in these courses, please check the Intensive Course and Workshops page<\/a> and follow the instructions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also welcome participants who wish to join the workshop without earning credits (Open Participation). If you would like to participate as an Open Participant, please register using the form below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Workshop Structure<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The three steps of active book dialogue:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Co-summarization: Participants split the book into sections and summarize it in a given format.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Presentation Relay: Each participant gives a few minute presentation using the summary.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Dialogue: participants further explore the presented content through dialogue.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
