I completed a doctoral degree in psychology after doctoral studies in classical Japanese literature and performing arts. I research the intersection between literature and psychology through narratives, poetry, and theater.

I specialize in exercise physiology and studythe mechanisms of age-related muscular atrophy (sarcopenia). Drawing on the leadership experience I have gained through physical exercises and practical training, I hope to support peer learning among students.

I have been trained in ethics and have engaged in the study and teaching of applied ethics, including professional and research ethics. It is essential to possess ethical attributes in leadership. Many experiences have taught me how to navigate between cultures. I inhabit a liminal space as a Japanese American, I lived in Morocco as a Peace Corps Volunteer, and my research on English-language Noh has taken me around the globe. I will guide students in discussing how we can become better leaders and facilitators and impact our communities and cultures.
