General
Students who passed the qualification examination (QE) and go on to PhD course, are asked to make an online presentation to external advisory committee members about one year before taking the ToTAL defense.
ToTAL Office will contact those students who are required to make their presentation approximately 6 months in advance. Please notify ToTAL Office if you plan to graduate early.

１．Purpose
（1） Use this opportunity as a first step to clarify what you want to do in the future.
（2） Explain to others your intentions and convince them to agree that your goal is worth it.
（3） Get advice from the advisory committee members from their broad perspective about your new value creation by executing leadership.
２．What we want to hear in a student presentation
（1）What kind of professional do you want to be in the future (what do you want to do)?
- Job category
- What you want to accomplish, and/or
- How you want to contribute to society
（2）What kind of leadership is necessary for you?
- How does this relate to (1) above (and why is the LEADERSHIP necessary)?
- What exactly is Leadership for you?
- What have you done so far to make that happen (and what have you learned)
- What you learned at ToTAL
- What you did outside of ToTAL
- How well is it being accomplished so far?
（3）Relationship between your research activities and ToTAL activities
- Summary of your research activities
- The Impact of ToTAL activities on your research activities
（4）What you want to do in the future using ToTAL program
※Note: You do not have present in the above order, covering everything. Please make sure that audience can understand the contents listed above.
３．Tips
（1）If you show the difference in your thinking between when you joined ToTAL and now, audience may easily catch the value of your leadership development.
（2）When you present your own ideas, explaining them based on your experiences (e.g., what you did in ToTAL) would be persuasive (logically connect your experience and ideas).
（3）It is better not to use general words about leadership (e.g., people skills, decision making, execution, involving people, communication skills, management, etc.) if you do not specifically explain what they mean to you.
４．Actions to be taken: Schedule and announce dry-run
Arrange and announce a dry-run session in ToTAL before the presentation to the external advisors (about two weeks before). In the dry-run you will present to some students and faculty members of ToTAL and ask for their opinions and advice.

The opportunity to organize what you can do and what you want to do will be needed many times in the future. Please use this as a good opportunity to get comments from others and reflect.
