Entrepreneurship Courses

・Entrepreneurship courses are not a graduation requirement for undergraduate students, but it is strongly recommended that you take 3 credits during your undergraduate degree.
・Entrepreneurship courses are made up of 5 categories as shown below, and courses taken in any category will count toward your “Entrepreneurship Course” credits.

  • This briefing session will cover four courses in the “Leadership” and “Value Creation” categories.
  • The “Leadership” and “Value Creation” categories consist of workshops and content that cultivate the mindset and skills that are core to entrepreneurship. We strongly recommend taking at least one subject in the “Leadership/Value Creation” category.

Features of our Entrepreneurship (Leadership, Value Creation) Courses

These courses have the following features not found in previous courses

  • The course is comprised of three phases: courses in “Introduction to Entrepreneurship” phase that broaden future options and build a foundation for entrepreneurship; courses in “Entrepreneurial Skills Development” phase that cultivate and strengthen the various skills that make up entrepreneurship; and courses in “Practical Entrepreneurship” phase that demonstrate entrepreneurship and attempt to implement new value in society.
  • A course in “Introduction to Entrepreneurship” phase in 1Q/2Q consist of workshops that help students identify the source of their interests and train their creativity through art, as well as workshops that allow students to experience Design Thinking, the foundation of entrepreneurship. In 3Q/4Q, we will invite top Japanese venture capitalists and startup managers to talk about the social demands on startups and the current state of new business creation, and discuss Entrepreneurship with you. We plan to offer courses that will broaden your future options.
  • The courses in “Entrepreneurial Skills Development” phase in 1Q/2Q will train students mindsets and skills that make up entrepreneurship through various workshops that encourage thought and experience, rather than simply providing knowledge. There are approximately 20 different workshops offered, broadly divided into the categories of “Initiative”, “Motivation” and “Innovation” based on their purpose. The workshops offered in 1Q/2Q, and 3Q/4Q are different, so please choose based on your schedule and inclinations.
  • The courses of “Entrepreneurial Practice” phase in 1Q2Q will feature the Lean Launchpad Program (LLP), the shortest route to a business competition. In the LLP, students propose their own business idea, form a team, and verify its feasibility (this program is also ideal for students who want to gain experience leading to starting a business). In 3Q4Q, the content will be Programming Boot Camp (PBC), in which students propose a new web service they wish existed and work in groups to develop it from scratch in a short period of time like hackathon style. The “Entrepreneurial Practice” courses will allow students to experience implementing new value in society.
  • All of the courses in the “Introduction to Entrepreneurship” phase, “Entrepreneurial Skills Development” phase and “Entrepreneurial Practice” phase courses are not simply lecture-based, as is the case in the past, but are centered around work and discussion, and are designed to allow a wide range of students to participate regardless of their major or year, so that students from diverse backgrounds and years can come together under one roof.
