<What is design thinking?>
In Silicon Valley today, successful companies are those that are able to quickly grasp the latent needs of their users and give shape to them. The approach, Design Thinking, is a way of thinking to create hit products and services from a human perspective by empathizing with real human issues, through interviews, experiences, and observations. Design Thinking is also considered as the foundation of entrepreneurship (entrepreneur spirit), which is one of the key components in evaluating an individual’s capability at work in any organization.
<About the workshop>
This workshop is a half-day introductory event ideal for learning the basics of design thinking. Participants will experience the concepts and methods of the five processes of Design Thinking: Empathize Define, Ideation, Prototype, and Test. It is recommended to students who are new to the method of design thinking, especially undergraduate students. In the fall semester, “Design Thinking for Your Creative Practice”, a workshop for advanced students in design thinking will be held in English inviting tutors from/formerly from Stanford University d.school, the home of design thinking. Students interested in participating in that workshop are recommended to take the Design Thinking for Beginners Workshop in advance.

<Comments of previous participants>
- I recommend this workshop to students who want to learn about design thinking through actual work. Join the workshop if you are interested!
- This was a rare opportunity to get direct feedback from actual business owners and business professionals. In this workshop, we learned the basics of design thinking, but I also want to learn about the more systematic parts of the approach.
- It was a busy and really educational day! I got to know many new friends from different countries and regions, and learned a lot from them and the guest speakers. Join us and enjoy this inspirational environment of Tokyo Tech together!
- I strongly recommend participation in this workshop. You can experience not only enjoyable group work with your teammates and inspired conversation with senior LAs working in companies, but also make friends who have the same interests and values as you.
