Tokyo Tech Academy for Leadership (ToTAL) is happy to support Dr. Sasipa Boonyubol (Specially Appointed Associate Professor (Lecturer) in School of Environment and Society) in the free screening of a 2020 documentary film “PICTURE A SCIENTIST” followed by a casual discussion on Friday, March 22, 2024.

The film will be screened to celebrate International Women’s Day, which is on March 8, with the theme “#InspireInclusion” this year. This film featured in the 2020 Tribeca Film Festival chronicles the groundswell of researchers who are writing a new chapter for women scientists. Biologist Nancy Hopkins, chemist Raychelle Burks, and geologist Jane Willenbring lead viewers on a journey deep into their own experiences in the sciences, ranging from brutal harassment to years of subtle slights. Along the way, from cramped laboratories to spectacular field stations, we encounter scientific luminaries – including social scientists, neuroscientists, and psychologists – who provide new perspectives on how to make science itself more diverse, equitable, and open to all.

We welcome participation from all students, faculty and staff, not just women. Join us!
