As a MEXT student, it is very difficult to get additional scholarships or funds, but ToTAL fully supported my internship at the UN in Tajikistan!

My internship was at the UN World Food Programme (WFP). My research draws inspiration from SDG7, while the WFP primarily focuses on SDG2. However, through discussions with experts at WFP and the expertise I developed, I gained a deeper understanding that all SDGs are interconnected.

Embarking on my off-campus project in Tajikistan was an eye-opening adventure that allowed me to immerse myself in a way of life that was wholly distinct from my daily life in Japan.

The ability to SEE what my research is about in real life has had a significant impact on my perspective and motivation, and has shown me things that cannot be fully understood through READING alone.

At ToTAL, you are not just a passenger; you get to be the captain of your own ship (project)! You will have the autonomy and support to develop your desired leadership skillset in your own way!

(Staff comment)Amin is known for actively engaging with fellow students in the lab, and he has connected many new students to ToTAL. More than one student mentioed Amin as a mentor from whom they sought advice when facing challenges. Amin demonstrates fluency in reading, writing, and speaking Japanese. As a TA, he has also contributed to the design and implementation of communication activities for our class.
